The numbers, before you call.

A flat call-out that includes the diagnostic, hourly labor billed in half hours, and parts at a fixed markup over our trade cost. That is the whole pricing model.

$79 flat gets a mechanic to your car, a full-system diagnostic scan and the first 30 minutes of work. Decline the repair and that is the entire bill. Go ahead with it and the $79 comes off the total.
Common jobs — parts and labor, before tax
JobTypicalNotes
Service call + full diagnostic$79Rollout, a full-system scan and the first 30 minutes on the car. If you decline the repair, this is all you pay.
Labor after the first 30 minutes$115 / hrBilled in 30 minute increments, not rounded up to the hour.
Brake pads + rotors, one axle$260 - $420Parts and labor. Ceramic pads and coated rotors on a normal car; trucks and seized hardware run higher.
Full synthetic oil + filter change$85 - $135Depends on capacity and filter. Includes a 20-point look-over and we take the old oil with us.
Battery replacement, tested and fitted$185 - $300Group size and cold-cranking amps drive the price. Terminal clean-up and a charging-system test are included.
Starter or alternator replacement$320 - $700Wide range on purpose - access is everything. We quote your engine, not an average.
Pre-purchase inspection$165Anywhere in the service area, on a car you do not own yet. Written report, photos, and a scan of every module.
Jump start / roadside no-start visit$79Same flat call-out. If it turns into a repair on the spot, the call-out comes off the bill.

What we never add to a bill

  • Fuel surcharges, shop supplies, environmental fees or 'diagnostic time' on top of the diagnostic
  • A markup on parts you supply yourself, if you would rather buy them
  • Anything at all for a quote given over the phone
  • A second call-out when a repair we did needs a second look inside the warranty

How parts pricing works

We buy at trade cost and add a fixed markup. If you want to see the cost line on the supplier's screen, ask and we will turn the phone around — we would rather show you than have you wonder.

You are also welcome to supply your own parts, and we will not penalize the labor rate for it. The one thing we cannot do is warranty a part we did not buy. Labor is still covered; the part is on you.

Why the ranges are wide

Because access is the real variable, and pretending otherwise would be a lie. A starter on one engine is three bolts and forty minutes. On another it lives under the intake manifold and takes most of an afternoon. A brake job on a garaged car is an hour; the same job on a car that has spent ten winters in road salt can take twice that before a single seized bolt gives up.

So we quote your car rather than an average. Tell us the year, make, model and what it is doing, and you get a real number on the phone before anybody drives out.

Prices shown are typical for Milwaukee County and eastern Waukesha County and include parts and labor unless stated. Tax is extra. A written quote for your specific vehicle is free and takes about five minutes on the phone.

Something wrong with the car? Tell us where it is parked.

$79 flat call-out, diagnostic included, 7 days a week, 7am - 7pm. If you decline the repair that is the whole bill.
